No doubt you have been shocked and moved by the images and footage emerging from Japan showing the full extent of the damage caused by the 9.0-magnitude Great Tohoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami.

Despite being an economically developed country, Japan and foreign rescue teams are in desperate need of monetary assistance in order to carry out their relief operations and supporting those who have had to be re-housed in temporary accommodation.
If you feel compelled to donate some money to help provide support to those whose lives have been affected by the disaster, there are several easy ways to donate aside from the Japanese Red Cross website (which is understandably intermittently down), all of which take no commission, sending 100% of the donation to the charity.

We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and in order to help those hit by this disaster, we are donating 50% of revenues during the next two weeks to local earthquake relief efforts. If you don’t have a premium account yet, this is a chance to upgrade and help reconstruction of Japan at the same time.
We sincerely hope that you opt to help those in Japan who are in desperate need of aid with whatever you can, and our thoughts are with those who whose lives have taken a turn for the worst in the past few days and wish them all the best for the future.
